Attend the tale of SWEENEY TODD like never before—in the thrillingly immersive experience all of New York is eating up!

Take your seat in the middle of the action as we serve up Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler’s musical masterpiece about a barber, a baker and a recipe for revenge. This killer show comes to life inside a 360-degree recreation of London’s oldest working pie shop, with a talented ensemble taking to the stage—and counters and tabletops—performing all around you, and sometimes, mere inches away. In this theatre, every view is unique, and no one is safe from the Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

And to make your experience a true feast for the senses, simply add on our delicious pre-show pie & mash, prepared by the Obamas’ White House pastry chef—they’re anything but the worst pies in London.

SEATING INFO

Instead of a traditional theater layout, our production of SWEENEY TODD is set inside a 360-degree re-creation of Harrington’s.  While there is no formal audience participation, the four center tables are particularly close to the staging.  Most of the action of the play takes place on and around the shop’s service counter and these tables.

You can familiarize yourself with the shop layout in advance using the below diagram and 3-D rendering.

Our Immersive section includes the four tables and two counters closest to the Service Counter.  The immersive nature of the show means that if you’re sitting at any of these tables or counters, the action happens all around you.  You may have to twist or turn your head from time to time.

If you’d prefer to watch the show facing straight ahead, we suggest our Forward View seats.

Lower price seats are available in our Twisting View and Partial View locations.

All of the seats are cushioned and have backs, most are banquette-style seating.  Seats in Rows A, F and J are slightly taller chairs for better viewing, and have footrests.

What’s special about the show is this unusual layout, but we know it’s a lot to comprehend.  More information about all of the seats can be found in the Seating Locations section of the FAQs.

The Downstairs of the shop is fully ADA compliant. As Greenwich House is an early 1900s building, however, a ramp is required for wheelchairs to access the lobby and Downstairs of the shop from the street. Any guest with mobility issues should purchase tickets Downstairs. Please contact the box office after booking to let us know about any access requirements by calling 212-243-6262 or emailing boxoffice@sweeneytoddnyc.com.

PRE-SHOW PIE & MASH

Our shop’s pie maker is former White House pastry chef Bill Yosses.  Most seats within the shop (except Row J) include the option to buy a pre-show meal of pie and mash cooked fresh daily by Bill.  We offer three types of pie for either $22.50 (meat and veg) or $29.00 (beef wellington), and the price includes pie, a side of mashed potatoes, an optional herbed parsley sauce known as “liquor” plus either beer, wine or a non-alcoholic beverage.  This meal is a substantial main course portion and won’t leave you feeling hungry!  Pie and mash may only be purchased in advance, up until noon on the day of a performance.

Pie and mash is served beginning 1 hour and 15 minutes prior to each curtain, and those who have purchased it may arrive any time after that until 30 minutes before curtain (at which point the last pie is served). All tables must be cleared 15 minutes later for performer safety. We encourage you to arrive on the early side so your meal is not rushed.

For more information about Bill’s delicious pies, please visit the Pre-Show Pie & Mash section.

If you’re not dining with us, you’re welcome to enter the shop beginning 15 minutes prior to show time. Beer, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks may be purchased from the bar in the lobby before each show and during intermission. No outside food or drinks are permitted.

Running time is 2 hours and 45 minutes including one twenty minute intermission.
